Gopal Poddar

Gopal Poddar is Chairman and Managing Director of Limtex Group of Industries. Born on April 6, 1951, Poddar wanted to become an entrepreneur from a young age. He graduated from the University of Calcutta with a degree in commerce and went on to study law at the University Law College of Calcutta. He also holds a Masters in commerce from the University of Calcutta along with an LLB. Poddar began his entrepreneurial journey in 1977, starting Limtex as a small tea business. Today, the Limtex Group specialises in tea, biscuits and IT.

Heena Gorsia

Henna Gorsia was the Honorary General Secretary of The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society, a renowned organisation committed to high-quality education from primary school to degree courses. Gorsia introduced a new Vocational Department at Bhawanipur Education Society College, including a fashion design programme, which achieved phenomenal success within a decade. She also introduced a design programme in association with the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. Gorsia is a recipient of prestigious awards such as the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation Award, the Bharat Nirman Award and the Rotary International Award, among others.

Laxmichand Daswani

Laxmichand Daswani is a prominent Indian businessman settled in Brazil. He is the owner of the Indian restaurant Tandoor in Sao Paulo.

Jodh Raj Laddha

A self-made, down-to-earth businessman, Jodh Raj Laddha was a Managing Trustee of the Laddha Janakalyan Trust and Founder of the J.R. Laddha Financial Services Group of Companies. He was actively associated with various social, philanthropic and religious organisations across India and served as President of the Akhil Bharatvarsiya Maheshwari Mahasabha. Namit Bajoria

R. S. Goenka

R.S. Goenka is Director and Co-founder of the Emami Group of Companies. He is a recipient of the Cavalier Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the fifth Indian to receive this recognition from the Government of Poland. Bishwambhar Dayal Sureka was a well-recognised name in the field of education and social science. His varied interests in trade, industry and commerce and active participation in fields like art, culture, religion, education and child welfare were appreciated by many. He was a philanthropist in matters of education, religion and medical and socio-economic assistance, channelling his efforts through his privately established Manovikas Trust.

Late Basant Kumar Birla

Ghanshyam Das Birla, was a leading industrialist of India, heading a conglomerate of industries and educational institutions. In 1959, he established the Indo Ethiopian Textiles Share Company, which was the first major joint venture by any Indian industrialist in a foreign country. In response, the Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie I, awarded him the medal of the Order of Menelik II, the highest Ethiopian award by the then Emperor.

Late Chatter Singh Baid

A self-made man, Chatter Singh Baid started his career in his early 1920s and forayed into the export of fabrics and eventually started promoting buildings and financial projects. Baid was actively involved with leading societies such as the JST Mahasabha, the Marwari Relief Society and the Churu Nagrik Parishad, promoting education among the poor and donating funds to flood-prone areas. He was also the former President of COTTI, a Trustee of COTTI Trust and Chairman of COTTI’s Golden Jubilee Celebration Board.

Late Sarala Birla

Indian businesswoman and wife of industrialist Basant Kumar Birla, Sarala Birla was an active social worker and educationalist. Being a connoisseur of art, she was actively involved with the Birla Academy of Art & Culture.
